About the estate:
Since the 1970s, this certified organic estate has been one of the appellation’s crown jewels, appearing in the Guide with unwavering consistency. Boasting a magnificent terroir of 70 small schist plots (58 ha) that sculpt the landscape, it now benefits from the expertise of the younger generation, inherited from grandfather Jean and father Bernard Vidal, both former presidents of the appellation.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on June 11, 2022
This cuvée serves as a welcome reminder that there are still fine wines from schist-based terroirs that valiantly reflect the character of old Carignan. From the very first sip, it takes you on a deep, very deep dive into the depths to encounter a rich density and complexity of black—very black—fruits, ripe, very ripe, almost saturated, along with earthy notes that envelop the palate and linger endlessly. Finally, we return to the surface with just the right amount of structure for a superb, long finish with a mineral edge, resting on a bed of powerful, juicy tannins that are still a bit firm. That’s an understatement for this 2020, which is only just beginning to show its charm and whose best is yet to come in two to three years. With a bit more finesse, this would be a wine for purists. Tasted at 16° with barbecued Cévennes lamb skewers, accompanied by a small portion of aligot.
