“Tasted blind. The nose is very alluring, and the wine is just as charming. It is both luscious and deeply oaky, with notes of the forest floor. It offers lush layers of wilted rose petals, plums, humus, fallen leaves, fresh wood, and the sweetness of black cherries. The tannins are abundant, yet fine and long. This is an intense, concentrated wine that carries itself with grace and dignity.” (Jancis Robinson 2025)

About the estate:
Since the 1970s, this certified organic estate has been one of the appellation’s crown jewels, appearing in the Guide with unwavering consistency. Boasting a magnificent terroir of 70 small schist plots (58 ha) that sculpt the landscape, it now benefits from the expertise of the younger generation, inherited from grandfather Jean and father Bernard Vidal, both former presidents of the appellation.

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on February 28, 2026
At its peak of maturity, this 2023 Faugères—straightforward and moderately full-bodied—displays a velvety, intensely juicy texture with deliciously rich fruit, underpinned by a fresh structure with hints of graphite and a peppery note that lingers on the finish. Ready to drink now, this beautiful terroir wine pairs wonderfully with Cévennes lamb shanks confit in thyme jus. Score = 4.2.
