Cité de Carcassonne
A must-visit pilgrimage site in Languedoc-Roussillon, the The City of Carcassonne is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vineyards are located primarily on the hillsides within a 20-kilometer radius of the city, covering approximately 3,000 hectares of vineyards across some twenty municipalities.
Between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, the the vineyards of Carcassonne benefits from a dual climatic influence, with the alternating effects of two winds: a warm, humid Mediterranean breeze tempered by the Cers, a dry, temperate wind from the Atlantic. This balance produces fresh, fruity, elegant wines that are typical of the terroir.
The wines of the Cité de Carcassonne are made from a blend of Mediterranean grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, etc.) and Atlantic varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc.).
