Plô Roucarels
Le Plô Roucarels, which means "small rocky plateau" in Occitan, is a 7-hectare estate just south of Carcassonne. Julia Gil-Hubrich is originally from Germany. She cut her teeth working with Pierre Clavel at Pic Saint Loup, then at Château Labégorce and Château Citran in the Bordeaux region. Julien Gil, a local, earned a technical degree in viticulture and oenology at Blanquefort and trained notably at Château Barrateau and Château Mongravey.
Driven by the desire to build something together, they decided to settle in a region that offers opportunities for young winemakers: Languedoc-Roussillon. They embarked on their winemaking adventure by purchasing their first 2 hectares of vineyards in 2006. In 2011, they found an additional 5 hectares in the Limoux appellation. A new chapter in their lives as winemakers!
