Bettane & Desseauve

“A very fine Viognier-based wine, with nuance and complexity, aromas of peach and apricot, a lovely richness on the palate followed by a refreshing finish.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2015). An intense nose of fresh yellow-fleshed fruits (apricot, peach), with toasty and floral notes reminiscent of hawthorn and verbena. The palate is powerful, fruity (peach, apricot), and floral (verbena and acacia), with a long, mineral finish. A delightful white wine!

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

A superb Viognier-based wine, offering nuance and complexity, with aromas of peach and apricot; it opens with a rich, full-bodied flavor that gives way to a refreshing finish.

About the estate:

A true pioneer in the qualitative revival of the appellation, this estate has a variety of terroirs, which it uses to create blends that strike a balance between finesse and structure. The wines are of a very high quality and continue to improve. In summer, François and Anne Collard offer walking and mountain biking tours around the property, allowing visitors to discover their terroir and the region's flora and fauna. It's well worth a visit! An estate of excellence with a few exceptional plots of old vines, producing consistent, understated wines that win us over every year.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

François Collard is a regular feature in the Guide, with wines that often rank highly. Established in 1994, he produced his first bottles from the family vineyards (65 hectares certified organic since 2014) under two labels: Mourgues du Grès, owned by the Ursuline convent in Beaucaire until the Revolution, and La Tour de Béraud, which takes its name from a 14th-century watchtower dominating the vast Beaucaire plain. Never short of ideas, the Collard couple invite visitors to discover all the facets of the estate via a marked trail equipped with Bluetooth terminals.

Wine rated 15/20 (Very good)

About wine:

An astonishing, full-bodied, and expressive wine. Vibrant aromas of hazelnut, redcurrant, lemon, and citron. On the palate, citrus notes delicately frame the lively structure, which evolves into a long, balanced finish with hints of smoky menthol!
