Wine Production

After being crushed and destemmed, the grapes are placed in open stainless-steel tanks. Maceration lasts about fifteen days, with a few rackings and one or two punch-downs. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature not exceeding 23°C. The grapes are then pressed in the small press.

Beautiful cherry-red dress

Nose

Very expressive and elegant, with intense aromas of red berries and wild berries. Floral notes of peony and rose, with a hint of ginger and cherries.

Palate

Beautiful roundness and finesse, freshness and elegance, with hints of licorice and gray pepper. A fine showcase of Pinot Noir outside its Burgundian homeland.

About the wine:

A lovely, intense nose with notes of vanilla, smoke, sweet flowers, and mellow fruit, along with green coffee; the palate is very smooth, charming, and aromatic, with a delightfully lively finish. Pleasant and very well-crafted.

About the estate:

Laurent Delaunay has set up his winemaking facilities in Marseillette, a small wine-growing village not far from Carcassonne, and winemaker Vincent Charleux oversees them. These two enthusiasts of the Languedoc terroirs pool their talents to make the best possible selections regarding vineyard plots, winemaking techniques, blends, and aging. Laurent Delaunay, along with his wife Catherine—an oenologist like himself—had already created “Les-Jamelles” in 1991, a range of wines made from remarkable grape varieties. In late 2015, they acquired the La Métairie d’Alon estate in Limoux with the goal of producing exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays on the beautiful high-altitude terroir of Magrie. The estate comprises 25 hectares cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, divided into 25 plots, which allow for plot-specific selections and meticulously crafted cuvées. By the third vintage, their success was already evident. The “Solaire” Pinot Noir, produced from a north-facing clay plot, is breathtaking. This estate richly deserves a second star!
