Domaine de la Métairie d'Alon - Le Village Chardonnay 2018
Prix Plaisir
Bettane & Desseauve
This 100% Chardonnay cuvée is a blend of three high-altitude vineyards, assembled in the Burgundian style. After aeration, its nose intensifies, revealing a broad palette of aromas of white peach, ripe lemon, and fresh banana, followed by pastry, floral, and toasty notes. The palate is harmonious, combining roundness, a pleasant texture, and dynamic freshness. The long finish ends on delicate buttery and toasty notes. A truly beautiful wine!

Wine rated "Plaisir" (Plaisir)
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
Laurent Delaunay has established his winemaking facilities in Marseillette, a small wine-growing village not far from Carcassonne, and oenologist Vincent Charleux oversees operations there. These two enthusiasts of the Languedoc terroirs pool their talents to carefully select the vineyards, winemaking methods, blends, and aging processes. Laurent Delaunay, along with his wife Catherine—an oenologist like him—had already created Les-Jamelles in 1991, a range of wines made from remarkable grape varieties. In late 2015, they purchased the La Métairie d’Alon estate in Limoux with the goal of producing exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays on the beautiful high-altitude terroir of Magrie. The estate comprises 25 hectares cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, divided into 25 plots that allow for plot-specific selections and meticulously crafted cuvées. By the third vintage, their success was already evident. The sunny Pinot Noir cuvée, produced on a north-facing clay plot, is breathtaking. This estate richly deserves a second star!
