This wine offers an aromatic bouquet of strawberry and cherry with hints of spice. On the palate, it is fruity and fresh. The mouthfeel is beautifully rounded, revealing a licorice-tinged finish. This “Clémence” cuvée has good aging potential but can already be enjoyed in its youth. A wonderful discovery!

Rated 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though a bit more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Jean-Philippe Granier provides technical advice to all winemakers in the Languedoc appellations. The family-owned estate, located in the Sommières area, offers wines that are perfectly clean and impeccably crafted, ranging from IGP to Languedoc wines: it is by the quality of its entry-level wines that a good estate is recognized. Among the reds, “Clémence” is intense in flavor, “Jéricho” has a bold character and perfectly balanced tannins, and “Camp-de-l’Oste” is a benchmark for the region. There is a clear commitment here to the taste and flavors that every wine from the region should express. This is a very reliable choice, especially since, in addition to the reds, the whites are just as consistent and the “Parenthèse” rosé is consistently exceptional.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on June 29, 2023

A beautiful, authentic vintage whose value is on the rise in Languedoc. As soon as you open the bottle, you’re greeted by the fragrant aromas of the south—the Cevenne garrigue, sun-kissed red berries, along with delicate violet, sweet spices, and meaty notes. With a soft, velvety attack, the full-bodied, deep, and warm palate harmonizes perfectly with the rich array of aromas detected on the nose, which infuse a generous texture of wildly seductive jammy fruit. The wine is fleshy, with a touch of delicious acidity that balances the power of perfectly ripe tannins—which, without being excessive, retain finesse and smoothness. A long, very round finish, slightly sweet with a hint of zest. The tannic structure offers good aging potential; the hardest part will certainly be resisting the urge to drink Clémence right away. The perfect embodiment of the Languedoc identity, this “friends’ cuvée” will do justice to a couscous served with savory skewers of Lozère lamb seasoned with herbs, or more simply to artisanal hunter’s terrines (hare with thyme, wild Causse boar with black trumpet mushrooms, venison with morels, etc.). We’re already asking for more—especially since it’s such a great deal for the price! Rating = 4.2.
