About the wine:
The nose offers notes of exotic fruits, smoke, and broom; the palate is full-bodied and lively, with a subtle hint of bitterness that adds balance. We love this lively, well-crafted, and refreshing wine.
About the estate:
The Sieur d’Arques cooperative is Limoux’s leading economic player, marketing 16 million bottles annually. A pioneer in single-vineyard selection, it has been committed to a quality-focused approach for the past twenty years and continues to produce exceptionally well-balanced vintages. The range of “Toques-et-Cloche” white wines, made from Chardonnay grapes sourced from the four Limoux terroirs, is aged in barrels in the Burgundian style with regular stirring (bâtonnage), resulting in generous, charming, and perfectly balanced wines. A lovely range of high-quality sparkling wines perfectly complements the winery’s entire portfolio. Its consistent quality makes it a true flagship for the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
The Sieur d'Arques cooperative winery is a key player in the Limoux wine region, where it accounts for approximately 60% of production. Founded in 1946, it now brings together some 205 members and owns a vast vineyard of 1,800 hectares spread across more than 40 municipalities, enabling it to conduct rigorous plot-by-plot selection across a wide variety of terroirs. Its Toques et Clochers auction, established in 1990, has given Limoux a renewed sense of prominence and drawn attention to its still wines.
