The Château’s 2020 Réserve vintage was dazzling, and these old vines (40 years old) are cut from the same cloth. Cherry pit, raspberry, pine forest, spices—the nose is enchanting. There’s nothing forced about this intense, peppery palate—just delicacy and smoothness, even in the silky tannins—and above all, that fruit, both ripe and savory, that makes you want to pour another glass. About the estate:
Established in 1997, Jérôme Portal, who operates several estates in the Minervois region, not far from the Serre d'Oupia, has made a name for himself in the Guide. He produces a wide range of wines under various labels: Ch. Beaufort, Ch. Molières, Ch. Artix, Ch. Portal, and Ch. Sainte-Madeleine.
