“A dazzling Minervois at a great price!”

“The Château’s 2020 Réserve vintage was dazzling, and these old vines (40 years old) are cut from the same cloth. Cherry pit, raspberry, pine forest, spices—the nose is enchanting. Nothing forced in this intense, peppery palate, but rather delicacy and smoothness right down to the (silky) tannins—and above all, that fruit that is both ripe and savory, creating an irresistible urge to pour another glass. A Minervois with excellent aging potential, certainly, but already so delicious. A steal.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

About the wine:

The Château’s 2020 Réserve vintage was dazzling, and these old vines (40 years old) are cut from the same cloth. Cherry pit, raspberry, pine forest, spices—the nose is enchanting. There is nothing forced about this intense, peppery palate; instead, it offers delicacy and smoothness right down to the silky tannins—and above all, that fruit that is both ripe and savory, creating an irresistible urge to pour another glass. A Minervois with excellent aging potential, to be sure, but already so delicious. A real bargain.

About the estate:

Established in 1997, Jérôme Portal, who operates several estates in the Minervois region, not far from the Serre d'Oupia, has made a name for himself in the Guide. He produces a wide range of wines under various labels: Ch. Beaufort, Ch. Molières, Ch. Artix, Ch. Portal, and Ch. Sainte-Madeleine.
