This blend of Grenache and Syrah grown on hard limestone soils offers intense fruit notes (fresh grapes, ripe cherries) enhanced by hints of bay leaf. A red wine with a delicate, light, fruity, and minty attack, silky tannins, and a remarkably long finish. A real treat and pure pleasure!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated 91/100 (2020 vintage)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

After Bernard Durand, who oversaw the conversion of Pic Saint-Loup from mixed farming with a focus on sheep to its recognition as a quality wine-growing area, his nephew Régis Valentin took over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is a domaine to seek out for its Vieilles Vignes cuvée, which is powerful yet flavorful, its Clos des Combes, and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious and the rosé is consistently delicious.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Régis Valentin, oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate in 2001, which was founded in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families. He produces wines from 80 hectares of vines (in conversion to organic farming since 2019) on beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc region.
