"A rare tradition in French vineyards: when a Languedoc winegrower sees his harvest destroyed by hail, his neighbors who have been less affected give him a few barrels to prevent him from going under. This highly successful cuvée is thus a synthesis of the Pic Saint-Loup terroirs. Buy it to salute this gesture of solidarity and because the wine is also very good, very indulgent. And it has a beautiful story to tell." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2018) Fruity and long-lasting: a cuvée to savor!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rating (2019 guide) 14.5/20 + Prix Plaisir (Good wine)
Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About wine:
A beautiful fruit and a beautiful length on the palate, just right.
About the estate:
After Bernard Durand, who oversaw the conversion of Pic Saint-Loup from mixed farming with a focus on sheep to its recognition as a quality wine-growing area, his nephew Régis Valentin took over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is a domaine to seek out for its Vieilles Vignes cuvée, which is powerful yet flavorful, its Clos des Combes, and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious and the rosé is consistently delicious.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Régis Valentin, oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate in 2001, which was founded in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families. He produces wines from 80 hectares of vines (in conversion to organic farming since 2019) on beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc region.

So I don't understand what the Bettane & Desseauve guide, which gives this wine a very good score of 15.5/20, sees in it. Personally, I am frankly disappointed with my purchase. Overall, my recent experiences with 1 Day 1 Wine lead me to question the relevance of the comments on the wines for sale on the site, which are always rave reviews but perhaps not justified... maybe a little too marketing-oriented...!!!
