A "Great Wine" with terroir character, perfect for hearty dishes!

Fleurus 18/20, RVF 17.5/20, Guide Hachette 1 Star
This vintage lives up to its name: "Fine Wine". Delicate and full-bodied, with rich, refined tannins and complex aromas, it has retained a lovely freshness in this 2003 vintage heatwave. Blended from four grape varieties—Syrah combined with Mourvèdre, along with a touch of Grenache and Carignan—sourced from a rich variety of terroirs, this barrel-aged, age-worthy wine is a standout of its kind, showcasing the subtle nuances characteristic of the estate’s wines.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

After completing advanced studies in biogenetics, ampelography, and oenology, Cyril Bourgne began his career in Bordeaux (Château de Fieuzal) before embarking, alongside his wife Nadia, on a more personal winemaking venture in the Languedoc. The vineyard is meticulously tended, allowing for the extraction of complex and refined flavors during winemaking, which is now carried out in the new cellar nestled within the Saint-Chinian landscape. The precision of barrel aging, applied to the Grand Vin cuvée—dominated by Syrah and Mourvèdre—aims to redefine the contemporary expression of Saint-Chinian.
