“Appetizingly round, with its flavors always gently drawn out.” (Le Guide RVF 2021) This cuvée, from the Les Galichets vineyard, displays a complex aromatic palette of sweet spices and fruit notes (cherries, blackcurrants), with meaty and briny undertones. The tannins are fine and elegant, and the finish is savory, tender, and well-rounded.

About the wine:
Unfortunately, this 2017 vintage has a slight animal note. It nevertheless retains an appealing roundness, with its fruit still gently extracted.
About the estate:
Emmanuel Caslot and his sister Laurie carry on the work of thirteen generations with love and dedication at this historic estate in Bourgueil. Here, Cabernet Franc is vinified with great care to subtly express the terroirs of sand, clay, and limestone found on the lower, middle, and upper slopes. Each label is thoughtfully adorned with a color that reflects the wine’s intensity and complexity: from bright red for the Peu Muleau to deep purple for the Grand-Mont. These iconic Bourgueil wines highlight the refined, cool austerity of Cabernet Franc while embodying a magnificent smoothness of texture. Let us commend the bottle aging in tuffeau cellars prior to release.

Cabernet Franc enthusiasts who have been patient will be charmed by the old vines of this 2017 vintage, which produce a pure, straightforward wine, supported by a delicate, silky tannic structure that clearly reveals the limestone brilliance of the tuffeau. It exhibits a certain restraint, dominated by aromas of tart red fruits and spices, with a subtle hint of oak. The finish is drawn out by a sustained minerality. Still capable of aging well. Rating: 3.5. Light and fresh, this mature 2017 Galichets was served at 16°C after 2 hours of aeration, paired with roast veal in a sauce of wild mushrooms.
