"A Bourgueil of choice for this timeless and delicious vintage"

"A delightful 2018 from Les Galichets, which brilliantly evokes the sun-drenched concentration of the vintage through dark aromas of black fruits and spices, without veering into excessive illustration. With a mouthfeel that is both soothing and energetic, this is a great wine for aging at the beginning of its life." (Le Guide RVF 2024).

About wine:

A delightful 2018 from Les Galichets, which brilliantly evokes the sun-kissed concentration of the vintage through dark aromas of black fruits and spices, without veering into excessive illustration. With a mouthfeel that is both soothing and energetic, this is a great wine for aging, now at the beginning of its life.

About the estate:

Emmanuel Caslot and his sister Laurie lovingly and meticulously continue the work of thirteen generations in this historic Bourgueil estate. Here, Cabernet Franc is vinified with real gentleness to express the nuances of the sandy, clay, and limestone terroirs of the lower, middle, and upper slopes. Each label is judiciously adorned with a color that reflects the intensity and complexity of the wine: from bright red for the Peu Muleau to deep purple for the Grand-Mont. These absolute references in Bourgueil highlight the fine, cool austerity of Cabernet Franc, cloaked in a magnificent smooth texture. Let's salute the bottle aging in the tuffeau cellars before they are released for sale.

About wine:

Galichets 2018 is light for the year. Despite the maturity and sweetness of the fruit and its soft mid-palate, it has a sappy, fresh finish that brings refreshment and line. Blame it on the 50-year-old vines. It is still young, but everything is in balance in this hot vintage.
