“A top-quality Bourgueil for this timeless and indulgent vintage”

“A delightful 2018 from Les Galichets that brilliantly captures the vintage’s sun-drenched character through dark aromas of black fruit and spices, without ever veering into excessive expression. With a palate that is both soothing and energetic, this is a great wine with aging potential, still in the early stages of its life.” (Le Guide RVF 2024).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

A delightful 2018 from Les Galichets that brilliantly captures the vintage’s sun-drenched intensity through dark aromas of black fruit and spices, without ever veering into excessive expression. With a palate that is both soothing and energetic, this is a great wine with aging potential, just beginning its journey.

About the estate:

Emmanuel Caslot and his sister Laurie carry on the work of thirteen generations with love and dedication at this historic estate in Bourgueil. Here, Cabernet Franc is vinified with great care to subtly express the terroirs of sand, clay, and limestone found on the lower, middle, and upper slopes. Each label is thoughtfully adorned with a color that reflects the wine’s intensity and complexity: from bright red for the Peu Muleau to deep purple for the Grand-Mont. These iconic Bourgueil wines highlight the refined, cool austerity of Cabernet Franc while embodying a magnificent smoothness of texture. Let us commend the bottle aging in tuffeau cellars prior to release.

About the wine:

The 2018 Galichets is light for its vintage. Despite the fruit’s ripeness and sweetness and its soft mid-palate, it has a lively, fresh finish that brings a sense of refreshment and structure. This is thanks to the 50-year-old vines. It is still young, but everything is in balance in this warm vintage.

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on 12/22/2025

At its peak, this elegant, full-bodied Bourgueil strikes a fine balance between roundness and intense aromatic concentration—both fruity and spicy—supported by soft, silky tannins, with a chalky minerality leading to a refreshing finish. It pairs beautifully with a roasted farm-raised squab and a pan-seared medley of wild mushrooms. Rating = 4.1.
