Notes: Bettane & Desseauve 17/20, RVF 16.5/20
“The structure is superb, the tannins are very refined, and the fresh finish makes this a must-have that will go down far too easily. Cabernet Franc at its finest.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2012). Masterful!

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Emmanuel Caslot and his sister Laurie carry on the work of thirteen generations with love and dedication at this historic estate in Bourgueil. Here, Cabernet Franc is vinified with great care to subtly express the terroirs of sand, clay, and limestone found on the lower, middle, and upper slopes. Each label is thoughtfully adorned with a color that reflects the wine’s intensity and complexity: from bright red for the Peu Muleau to deep purple for the Grand-Mont. These iconic Bourgueil wines highlight the refined, cool austerity of Cabernet Franc while embodying a magnificent smoothness of texture. Let us commend the bottle aging in tuffeau cellars prior to release.

Review by Mr. ELIE M. Published on 10/31/2012
A superb wine, with smooth, round, and crisp tannins, all balanced by fruit and a delicate acidity that ties everything together perfectly. This is a superb Bourgueil from a great vintage. The wine is drinkable now but will improve significantly with age. My, the Loire really knows how to make great wines!
