"Gamay Haute-Couture"

Grown on a 1.5-hectare plot planted at high density, the Perdrizière cuvée reveals itself with unpretentious freshness. Expressive aromas of red fruits and spices rise from the glass. On the palate, the tannins are fresh and straightforward, supported by spicy notes. A great prestige cuvée from the estate—well worth discovering!

Rated estate (2026 guide): 3* Stars (A high-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Stéphane Sérol is leading his estate on the path to excellence. The 34 hectares of vineyards showcase the Gamay grape, which truly comes into its own here on the granite and porphyry soils. Combined with meticulous, biodynamic viticulture, this estate stands out for its carefully crafted, hand-harvested wines. The various wines offer a fresh structure and rich, indulgent flavors, particularly the “Les Millerands” cuvée, which is well worth aging in the cellar. A sure bet for great, enjoyable wines.

Rated wine (2024 guide) 1*Star (2021 vintage) (A very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

A talented embodiment of the local vineyard’s renaissance, Stéphane Sérol took the helm in 1998 of this 37-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic), whose origins date back to 1700 and which his father, Robert, brought to prominence as early as 1971 by selling wine directly by the bottle. A (very) safe bet in the Côte Roannaise.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100 (2021 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide): 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Carine and Stéphane Sérol have never before brought such brilliance to Saint-Romain Gamay and the Côte Roannaise. On the sandy and granite terroirs at high altitudes (from 380 to 520 meters), the reds express the grape variety’s delicately smoky, floral, and airy character. Grown in high-density vineyards (8,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare), the grapes are partially or even completely destemmed before being gently vinified. The progress made over the past ten years has been remarkable, and the wines have never better captured the identity of their terroirs. Of particular note is the added refinement in the whites.
