Roanne Coast
The Côte Roannaise is one of the southernmost vineyards in the Loire Valley, not far from the source of the river. Within the Côte Roannaise appellation, the Domaine des Pothiers stands out in particular.

The Côte Roannaise vineyards are located on hillsides overlooking the Loire River, forming the first foothills of the Massif Central. The Côte Roannaise vineyard is small, with just over 200 hectares of vines planted on the best hillsides, between 400 and 500 meters above sea level.

The soils of the Côte Roannaise are very sandy and well-drained, with a granite origin. They are ideal for the appellation's typical grape variety: Gamay Saint-Romain. Some more clayey plots are dedicated to the cultivation of Chardonnay. The quality and distinctive character of the wines from this terroir led to their classification as AOC Côte Roannaise in 1994.
