Bettane & Desseauve

(Notes vintage 2017)

This lieu-dit in the heart of Anjou is distinguished from other parcels by its original micro-climate: arid and wild, it's home to Mediterranean plants! Thus, in its youthful golden color with green highlights, Les Rouannières exudes aromas of honey, acacia, quince and walnut. A dense, mineral mellowness with impeccable aromatic qualities.

Wine rated (guide 2020) 16/20 (Vintage 2017) (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces all styles of white wine. René vinifies, while his elder brother Christophe works the vines. Not organic, of course, but the soils are worked "their way". In the cellar, the same care prevails, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, underground, Stockinger 30-hl wooden vats, etc.), capable of chiseling out nuanced, complex wines. The sweet wines are the estate's great strength, as is the series of savennières (13 hectares), impeccable in their precision. The small rosé and red cuvées are a step below, and the whites tasted this year are too irregular to retain the third BD.

Domaine noté Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)

About the domain :

This 46-hectare estate, born of the merger of two family farms, has been run by René Papin since 2010. An estate particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. Not to be missed.
