Bettane & Desseauve

(2017 Vintage Notes)

This vineyard, located in the heart of Anjou, stands out from other plots thanks to its unique microclimate: arid and untamed, it is home to Mediterranean plants! Thus, in its youthful, golden hue with green highlights, Les Rouannières exudes aromas of honey, acacia, quince, and walnut. A dense, mineral-driven sweet wine with impeccable aromatic qualities.

Rated wine (2020 guide) 16/20 (2017 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces a wide range of white wines. René handles the winemaking, while his older brother Christophe tends the vines. They aren’t organic, to be sure, but the soil is worked “their own way.” In the cellar, the same meticulous care prevails, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, buried, 30-hectoliter wooden vats by Stockinger...), suited to crafting nuanced and complex wines. The sweet wines are the estate’s greatest strength, as is the Savennières series (13 hectares), impeccably balanced.

About the estate:

This 46-hectare estate, formed by the merger of two family-run vineyards, has been managed by René Papin since 2010. It is particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. A must-visit.
