Château Pierre Bise - Anjou Les Rouannières 2015

Château Pierre Bise - Anjou Les Rouannières 2015

15/20

Bettane & Desseauve

Very fresh citrus aromas, followed by acacia blossom on aeration. Tart on the attack, the palate is full-bodied, dense, fresh, and elegant, with subtle mineral and woody notes, underscored by beautiful bitter notes on the finish. A superb Anjou!

Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces all styles of white wine. René makes the wine, while his older brother Christophe works in the vineyards. Although not organic, the soil is worked "their way." The same care prevails in the cellar, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, underground, 30 hl wooden vats by Stockinger, etc.), suitable for crafting nuanced and complex wines. Sweet wines are the estate's great strength, as is the Savennières series (13 hectares), which is impeccably balanced. The small rosé and red cuvées are a notch below, and the whites tasted this year are too inconsistent to retain the third BD rating.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

This 46-hectare estate, created from the merger of two family farms, has been run by René Papin since 2010. It is particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. Not to be missed.
