“This wine has tremendous potential and will surprise you with its balance and power.”

With a hint of minerality, Silex Rouge fully expresses the richness and roundness of Pinot Noir. Made entirely from destemmed grapes, it offers aromas of black fruit and coffee, developed during 12 months of barrel aging. On the palate, it impresses with its depth and fullness. The silky tannins lend it a lovely smoothness.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91/100 (2021 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

In 2010, Matthieu Delaporte’s arrival marked a turning point for this historic Chavignol estate, leading to a focus on soil management, the elimination of herbicides, lower yields, and barrel-aged winemaking. From the outset, the winemaker demonstrated great ambition and took on the challenge of restructuring a 33-hectare vineyard. A major undertaking aimed at producing more refined wines, certified organic since 2023. The range combines blended cuvées (Chavignol and Silex) and single-vineyard wines (the legendary south-facing slope of Monts Damnés, as well as Le Cul de Beaujeu, famous elsewhere for its whites, but planted here with Pinot Noir). The whites are meticulous, refined, and well-balanced; the reds are equally well-crafted.
