Bonnigal-Bodet - Touraine Amboise 100% Côt Les Seminées 2020
92/100
Robert Parker
"A work of art"
"Made from 25-year-old vines planted on clay-siliceous soils overlying an Aquitaine limestone subsoil, the 2020 Côt Les Séminées opens with a bright, delicate, and fresh bouquet of blueberries and blackberries, interwoven with subtle spicy notes of white pepper. Silky and elegant on the palate, this is a balanced and refreshing Malbec, with fine yet intense tannins that structure the fleshy, juicy fruit. The Séminées is softer and purer in fruit than its counterpart, the Mont Luma, and finishes with a vibrant, fresh, and refined finish, displaying bite and tension. Very stimulating in its clear and fresh expression.” (Robert Parker).

About the estate:
One of the standout discoveries in Touraine in recent years! When they took over the estate in 2015, Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet halved the vineyard area to focus on their best plots in Amboise, where Côt (Malbec) and Chenin are showcased. One senses a pursuit of finesse, luscious texture, and floral notes in the expression of these vibrant reds. For the whites, special care is taken with the extensive range of dry Chenins sourced from specific lieux-dits. The grapes are perfectly ripe, and the aging in oak is meticulous; the wines offer a variety and quality rarely matched in this region. These winemakers, who are deeply committed to raising the profile of the Amboise appellation, are well worth keeping a close eye on.
