Château Calissanne

Château Calissanne covers 1,200 hectares, including 110 hectares of south-facing vineyards certified under the Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence A.O.P. and IGP designations. The terroir of Château Calissanne consists of gently sloping, stony hillsides at the foot of large limestone cliffs, which are ideally suited to the cultivation of grapevines and olive trees. In Château Calissanne’s unique “terroir,” the Mediterranean climate—warm and dry (annual precipitation of 550 mm)—is tempered by sea breezes, providing the vineyards with abundant sunshine.

Sophie Kessler now manages the Château Calissanne estate alongside her son Thomas. The vineyards at Château Calissanne are carefully tended with a focus on low yields, and the majority of the production is dedicated to making rosé wines typical of Provence.
