Bettane & Desseauve
3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
At the end of the 1980s, Frédéric and François Alary were among the few winemakers who literally reinvented Côtes-du-Rhône and its villages, bringing a level of exacting standards, sensitivity, and rigor to its production that were completely foreign to many of their colleagues. Over the following decades, they turned their estate into one of the most appealing and consistent ambassadors for Côtes-du-Rhône. With their 25 hectares of biodynamically farmed vines and an impressive heritage of old vines, they know how to craft wines that combine fullness and pleasure. Always solidly structured but without any harsh tannins, expressing ripe fruit with precision, their red wines are never better than after one to three years of aging, depending on the cuvée and vintage. As for the white wines, they blossom with smooth, full-bodied textures and discreet minerality.

About the estate:
Frédéric and François Alary, who arrived in 1984, handed over the reins of this estate, which had belonged to the Alary family since the 17th century. Thanks to the efforts of the two brothers and their colossal work, the estate reached the pinnacle of success, thanks to respectful farming practices and precise wines, both white and red, from the beautiful terroir of Cairanne. With no one to take up the torch, the estate was sold in 2020 to the Abeille-Fabre family, owners of Château Mont-Redon in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
