Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

In the late 1980s, Frédéric and François Alary were among the few winemakers who literally reinvented the Côtes-du-Rhône and its villages, bringing a level of exacting standards, sensitivity, and rigor to their production that were concepts entirely foreign to many of their peers. Over the following decades, they have made their estate one of the most appealing and consistent ambassadors of the Côtes-du-Rhône. With their 25 hectares cultivated biodynamically and an impressive heritage of old vines, they know how to craft wines that combine richness and pleasure. Always solidly structured yet without any harsh tannins, precisely expressing ripe fruit, their red wines are never better than after one to three years of aging, depending on the cuvée and vintage. As for the white wines, they blossom with smooth, full-bodied textures and subtle minerality.

About the wine:

This wine is characterized by juicy fruit and spices, with perfectly ripe grapes—the most precise among all the red vintages presented this year. It also boasts the most harmonious texture and body. A full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannins.

About the estate:

Frédéric and François Alary, who arrived in 1984, have stepped down from their roles at the helm of this estate, which has belonged to the Alary family since the 17th century. Thanks to the efforts of the two brothers and their tremendous work, the estate reached its peak, producing wines of precision—both white and red—on this beautiful terroir in Cairanne through sustainable viticulture. With no one to carry on the legacy, the estate was sold in 2020 to the Abeille-Fabre family, the owners of Château Mont-Redon in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

About the wine:

A textured, layered Cairanne with aromas of black fruit, wild herbs, roasted meat, and baking spices. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Well-structured and balanced, with a harmonious framework and good concentration on the mid-palate. A precise, vibrant finish with excellent length. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now or celller.
