"The estate's signature wine"

“Grown on 85 ares of steep hillsides covered in schistose granite in the hamlet of Maison Rouge, this 2023—fresh off the press—delights with its juicy notes of bigarreau cherry and blackcurrant, complemented by smoky and meaty notes from 18 months of barrel aging. The palate is in perfect harmony: straightforward, fresh, and well-structured, with elegant tannins and a more than respectable finish, underpinned by a woodiness that is naturally present yet carefully calibrated to complement the whole. A well-rounded, balanced, and very approachable Côte-Rôtie, reflecting meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar during a turbulent vintage.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

About the wine:

Hailing from 85 ares of steep hillsides covered in schistose granite in the locality known as Maison Rouge, this 2023—fresh off the press—delights with its juicy notes of bigarreau cherry and blackcurrant, complemented by smoky and meaty notes from 18 months of barrel aging. The palate is equally impressive: straightforward, fresh, and well-structured, with elegant tannins and a more than respectable finish, underpinned by a woodiness that is naturally present yet perfectly balanced with the wine as a whole. A well-rounded, balanced, and very approachable Côte-Rôtie, reflecting meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar during a challenging vintage.

About the estate:

Coming from a long line of winemakers, Jean-Claude Mouton joined his father, André, at the family estate in 1989. Since 2020, he has been assisted by his son Bryan, and together they manage this small 9-hectare estate, whose south-facing terraces are located in the heart of the village of Condrieu.
