Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
For three generations, the Domaine des Pasquiers has been producing Côtes-du-Rhône, Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Plan-de-Dieu, and Gigondas wines. The Plan-de-Dieu terroir consists primarily of red clay covered with rounded pebbles, while Gigondas lies close to the famous Dentelles de Montmirail. The winemaking and aging processes emphasize gentle extraction and well-integrated oak. The range is well-defined, and each vintage offers a superb balance.

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on September 21, 2024
Its distinctive style is evident in the heady sensation that immediately fills the palate—lively, assertive, and full-bodied. It expresses a concentration of macerated blackcurrant and blueberry, along with peppery spices and vegetal notes, supported by powerful, silky tannins, and carried by a pronounced, almost chalky acidity that stretches into the finish, dusted with a hint of bitterness. With its robust and warm character, this cuvée will delight lovers of southern wines and pairs easily with a spicy chili con carne. Score = 3.7.
