Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
A classic estate in the Mercurol area, regularly producing supple wines for early drinking. The gaby cuvée is often more ambitious, sometimes with woody notes that are a little too pronounced in certain vintages with little substance. The reds here are more successful than the whites, as confirmed by our tasting of the 2017s.

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Notes of black olive surround and permeate the blackberry and cherry core of the Crozes Hermitage 2020. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and ripe, with a velvety feel and good length, this is a fine example of the appellation.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Located in Mercurol, the domaine proudly flies the flag for the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, of which it is one of the best, especially for the more ambitious and complex Gaby cuvées.

Classic Crozes-Hermitage of fine craftsmanship. After a straightforward attack, the palate unfolds with freshness, amplitude and depth, allowing the Syrah to blossom with finesse rather than power. The texture is juicy, with red and black fruit flavors (blackcurrant, purple plum, black cherry), well-dosed spices and a hint of mocha in the background. Medium-bodied, ripe, silky-grained tannins, perhaps still a little prominent, guide us to a vibrant, appreciably long finish, underscored by fine acidity drowned in a touch of pepper and a few licorice notes. No false notes. For a family Communion meal, this fine Crozes was a unanimous winner with tournedos of Camargue bull with herbs cooked in a bbq, with a Provençal-style vegetable tian. Score = 4.4.
