This Syrah from young vines is an excellent introduction to the variety. Supple and rich, it’s a very expressive wine with generous fruit. The attack is clean, with ripe fruit coming to the fore, supported by harmonious, well-integrated tannins. A wine with character and richness—perfect for casual enjoyment!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to expectations for its appellation(s))

About the estate:

A classic estate in the Mercurol region, which consistently produces supple wines meant to be enjoyed young. The Gaby cuvée is often more ambitious, though in some vintages with less substance, the oak can be a bit too pronounced. The reds here are more successful than the whites, as confirmed by our tasting of the 2017 vintage.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Located in Mercurol, the estate proudly flies the flag for the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, of which it is one of the most reliable producers, particularly with its Gaby vintages, which are more ambitious and complex.
