"A Crozes-Hermitage with character that ticks all the boxes!"

"The nose delivers a delightful archetype of a tactfully oaked Syrah (fresh blackberry, violet, white pepper, licorice). Frank, well-rounded, supported by firm tannins, the palate displays superb length, stretching out over savory flavors of black fruit and spices. A dynamic red with no false notes. Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Philippe Desmeure and his daughter Émilie have successfully developed this family estate, expanding it to 30 hectares of vineyards. The vinification and aging in wood result in wines that are typically smooth on the palate. The estate produces wines of consistent quality in both colors, vintage after vintage. Good 2017.

Rated wine (2026 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

The nose delivers a delightful archetype of a tactfully wooded Syrah (fresh blackberry, violet, white pepper, licorice). Frank, well-rounded, supported by firm tannins, the palate displays superb length, stretching out over savory flavors of black fruit and spices. A dynamic red with no false notes.

About the estate:

Until 1973, Alphonse Desmeure brought his harvest to the cooperative. His son Philippe developed the property from 1977 onwards, generalized bottled production, and expanded the vineyard: today it covers 36 hectares, spread across several municipalities. Émilie and Christophe, his children, have joined the estate. An essential reference, with wines of rare consistency.

About wine:

The Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Particulière 2023, medium-bodied to full-bodied, presents well. Spicy and fleshy accents mingle with graphite and blackberry in the aromatic profile. Concentrated and elegant, the promising 2023 needs at least two more years in the bottle to begin to reveal its full potential.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Recommended

About wine:

The Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Particulière 2023 reveals pronounced aromas of black fruit, smoky earth, graphite, and pepper, as well as notes of saddle leather. This medium-bodied, concentrated Crozes has powerful tannins and a beautiful finish. Aged for 12 months in demi-muids, it is not intended for lovers of light wines, but it has a lot of character and is a complex and satisfying wine that will be enjoyable to drink until 2035.
