Grignan-les-Adhémar

Formerly known as “Coteaux du Tricastin,” Grignan-les-Adhémar is a vineyard covering 1,800 hectares of vineyards. Classified as a relatively mild wine, Grignan-les-Adhémar is produced in the heart of the Rhône wine region. Elegant and rich, this wine boasts an intense color. It immediately stands out from other wines thanks to its sublime ruby hue and brilliant mauve highlights. When aged under the right conditions, Grignan-les-Adhémar develops aromas of anise and licorice.

Two main grape varieties are used in the production of this wine. The first is Black Syrah. Also known as Black Shiraz or Black Serine, this variety originates from the Rhône region of France. The second dominant grape variety used in the production of this wine is Grenache Noir. It is a red wine grape variety native to Aragon (Spain), where it is called Garnacha.

Please note that in addition to these main components, other grape varieties are used in the production of Grignan-les-Adhémar wine. These include, in particular:

If not stored properly, Grignan-les-Adhémar may lose its original flavor and undergo slight discoloration. Depending on where you plan to store your bottle, you’ll need to follow certain guidelines. You can store your bottles in a suitable wine cabinet. If you choose this option, make sure the ambient temperature remains consistently between 12 and 14 °C.

You can also store Grignan-les-Adhémar wine in a standard wine cellar. Ideally, the cellar should maintain a minimum temperature of 10°C. You should also ensure that the temperature does not exceed 13°C. To optimize wine storage in a cellar, it is generally recommended to keep the bottles lying down. As a reminder, sharp and sudden temperature fluctuations can have a negative impact on the quality of the wine.

By choosing either of the storage methods described above, you can store wine for 5 to 20 years. As for fine wines, they can retain their quality intact for 25 years.

When serving this type of wine, there are certain specific guidelines you should follow. First and foremost, note that for standard service, it is recommended to pour 15 cl per glass. You can aerate and decant the wine in a carafe. Also, keep in mind that decanting should ideally be done one or even two hours before the wine is served at the table.
