"A brilliant Syrah, always perfectly successful!"
The estate's classic label blends several parcels located on granite soils, some of which are schistose. The result of a partially destemmed harvest (80%) and 12 months of restrained aging in barrels, this 2023 vintage offers a still-discreet bouquet that is fruity (red berries) and pleasantly vegetal (carnation). The palate is flattering, with a velvety texture, rounded, finely wooded tannins and a relaxed finish enhanced by paprika. It is predicted to pair beautifully in two or three years with a nice farm-raised chicken in cream sauce." (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Jérôme Coursodon is at the head of one of the most renowned estates in Mauves. Saint Joseph wines from this part of the appellation (Mauves-Tournon) are different from those further north, around Sarras, although all are produced on granitic soils. The estate's reds are often more accomplished than the whites.

About the domain :
Established for four generations in Mauves, the cradle of the Saint Joseph appellation, father Pierre Coursodon and son Jérôme, who settled here in 1999, manage 17 hectares of vines dedicated solely to Saint Joseph, mainly in its red version. The domaine's wines have long been included in the Guide's selections: with rare consistency, they are subscribed to the stars and Favorites.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
The Coursodon family has been winegrowers since the late 19th century. The estate owns vines in the renowned areas of Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzol and Glun. The whites are full-bodied, without excessive wood. For reds, L'Olivaie comes from the heart of Sainte-Épine, in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. However, recent vintages have been very demonstrative, with very pronounced oaky notes. The result is wines that are not always easy to digest. We regret that we have to withdraw one star from the domaine.

About the wine:
A well-structured and complex red wine, revealing aromas of wild currants, wild herbs, roasted meat, dark chocolate, and warm spices. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. Lively, balanced, and harmonious, with a long and flavorful finish. Ready to drink or cellar.

About the wine:
The Saint Joseph Silice 2023 presents itself beautifully, with a pure, balanced style, medium to full-bodied, as well as the classic minerality of Saint Joseph, ripe and darker red fruits, almost blue, from the vintage, lots of spices and floral nuances, integrated oak, and exceptional length. Made entirely from Syrah, destemmed and aged for 12 months in barrels, it should shine as soon as it is released.
