Hachette Wine Guide rating: 2** (Remarkable wine) + Favorite
"This wine reaches new heights, and even if it is still a little reserved, it has all the makings of a great wine. Initially closed, the nose opens up with aeration to reveal very clear aromas of crushed blackcurrant and cinnamon. Long, powerful and smooth at the same time, carried by remarkably fine tannins, the palate is a model of harmony, a "quiet strength" that builds to a crescendo and should fully blossom in three to five years." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Philippe Desmeure and his daughter Émilie have successfully developed this family estate, expanding it to 30 hectares of vineyards. The vinification and aging in wood result in wines that are typically smooth on the palate. The estate produces wines of consistent quality in both colors, vintage after vintage. Good 2017.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2023 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Until 1973, Alphonse Desmeure brought his harvest to the cooperative. His son Philippe developed the property from 1977 onwards, generalized bottled production, and expanded the vineyard: today it covers 36 hectares, spread across several municipalities. Émilie and Christophe, his children, have joined the estate. An essential reference, with wines of rare consistency.

It took a few years in the cellars to reveal its true character. A lovely Saint-Joseph with smoky aromas and black fruit notes. Very good.

In my opinion, a great Saint Joseph. Unfortunately, I only bought three bottles to try, but I should have bought more because there are none left now, as it was so well received.

Saint Joseph 2010, which is representative of the appellation, with flawless balance—neither too delicate, nor too strong, nor too opulent, and excellent value for money.
