Domaine Le Sang des Cailloux
Domaine du Sang des Cailloux is located on the garrigue plateau facing the Dentelles de Montmirail between Vacqueyras and Sarrians. Bathed in sunshine and buffeted by the mistral, the 17 hectares of the estate are in the Vacqueyras appellation. Domaine du Sang des Cailloux was created in 1975 when the two Ricard brothers separated, and Serge Férigoule became the proud owner in 1990. A new era dawned on the estate.
Serge Férigoule worked, expressed and refined his philosophy on his terroir. In 1991, the Domaine du Sang des Cailloux opted for seasonal and plot-specific tillage rather than chemical weeding. This enables us to control the growth of natural grasses. In a similar spirit, compost made from grape marc and cow manure has been substituted for synthetic fertilizers. Throughout the year, the vines are carefully monitored: tying up, disbudding and removing fallen grapes when production is too high. To get the best out of the fruit, only one bunch per bearer is left on the white grape varieties and on the Mourvèdres. The vines of the Domaine du Sang des Cailloux are thinned out according to plot and weather conditions. During manual harvesting, the vines are systematically and rigorously sorted. The construction of the new winery in 2001 enabled us to refine the work carried out in the vines all year round, thanks to a battery of vats of varying volumes.
