Château Rombeau
Located in Rivesaltes, the Rombeau Castle has been owned by the La Fabrègue family since 1810 and has managed to preserve its traditional values while modernizing to meet quality standards.
When Pierre-Henri de La Fabrègue arrived in 1993, the projects began to branch out into wine tourism and Rombeau Estate takes a new turn. The opening of an inn-restaurant, housed in the former 18th-century wine cellars, which has become a must-visit destination in the region, sets the momentum in motion. In 2001, the Hôtel des Vignes opens its doors.
The vineyard spans 130 hectares of vines across four municipalities: Rivesaltes, Pia, Peyrestortes, and Perpignan. Stretching along the Agly Valley, the vines enjoy optimal conditions for grape ripening and exceptional quality. The soil consists mainly of clay-limestone terraces with rounded pebbles, and the daily breeze helps keep the vines healthy and disease-free. No fewer than 23 different grape varieties are cultivated by Domaine de Rombeau within the Côtes du Roussillon appellation, as well as Rivesaltes, Muscats de Rivesaltes, and Catalan IGP wines. Certain old Syrah and Grenache vines are used to produce red wines with great complexity that are suitable for aging.
Since 2008, the transition to organic farming has been underway. Today, 27 hectares of the Rombeau estate’s vineyards in the town of Rivesaltes are certified organic.
