Rating: RVF 17/20, Robert Parker 91–92/100, Gault Millau 17/20
“A blend of Carignan and Syrah with small amounts of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2007 Le Soula red bursts from the glass with powerful rosemary, fennel, juniper berries, blueberries, and blackberries. Much more refined in tannins than its 2006 counterpart, yet no less dynamic and surprisingly refreshing, it offers a deep, mineral dimension, colored by blue and black fruits, bitter herbs, and resinous notes. A remarkable wine.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
On the beautiful high-altitude granite terraces of the Fenouillèdes region, northwest of Maury, Gérard Gauby and a few partners acquired this certified organic estate. In 2016, Wendy Wilson replaced Gerald Stanley, who had been running the estate since 2008. The red and white wines are vinified in barrels according to very natural principles: indigenous yeasts, no acidification, no chaptalization. Never lacking in freshness or elegance, the reds have recently gained in structure and body. But from its very first vintage, in 2001, Le Soula has distinguished itself primarily through its whites, which have impressed us with their purity and intensity: the blend of Macabeu, Sauvignon Blanc, and several other grape varieties works wonders here. These wines often benefit from aging to reach their full potential.

Animal and spicy notes suggest a full-bodied wine, but that’s not the case: it’s fresh, with smooth tannins and a lingering finish. It’s very good!
