Arnaud de Villeneuve - Rivesaltes Ambré 1970 (VDN)
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
“We’ve waited nearly half a century to discover this splendid amber-colored wine. Admittedly, the original pale gold has taken on the amber hue with auburn highlights that comes with the patina of time, but its appearance remains lively, brilliant, and inviting. On the nose, the aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit have faded, replaced by sweeter scents of honey, gingerbread, candied orange, and incense—though the original “spiciness” of the morello cherry remains. A note that is also evident on the palate, which is devilishly smooth and tender, surprisingly full-bodied and supple, with a lovely freshness underpinning it. A magnificent Rivesaltes of great finesse, a beautiful wine with a lovely texture.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)
