Arnaud de Villeneuve - Rivesaltes Ambré 1970 (VDN)
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
“Nearly half a century of waiting to discover this splendid amber. True, the original golden hue has taken on the amber color with auburn highlights of the patina of time, but its appearance remains lively, brilliant, and inviting. On the nose, the aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit have faded, replaced by sweeter scents of honey, gingerbread, candied orange, and incense, though the original “spiciness” of the morello cherry remains. A note that is also perceptible on the palate, which is devilishly smooth and tender, surprisingly full-bodied and supple, with a lovely freshness providing structure. A Rivesaltes of magnificent finesse, a beautiful wine to savor.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

About the wine:
We’ve waited nearly half a century to discover this splendid amber-colored wine. While its original pale gold hue has taken on the amber tones with auburn highlights that come with age, its appearance remains lively, bright, and inviting. On the nose, the aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit have faded, replaced by softer scents of honey, gingerbread, candied orange, and incense, though the original “spiciness” of the morello cherry remains. A note that is also perceptible on a palate that is devilishly smooth and tender, surprisingly full-bodied and supple, with a lovely freshness providing structure. A Rivesaltes of magnificent finesse, a beautiful wine to savor.
About the estate:

It brings together 320 winegrowers from Salses, Rivesaltes, and Pézilla-la-Rivière, who cultivate some 2,000 hectares of vineyards (including 125 hectares of organic vineyards) spread across 26 municipalities and diverse terroirs.
