Domaine Anne-Sophie et Jean-François Quénard
Visit JF Quénard estate is a family estate that has been handed down from father to son since 1644. It is located in the upper part of the commune, at the foot of the famous Chignin towers, whose origin remains a mystery. Jean-François, an oenologist, took over the estate with his father in 1987, once he had obtained his degree (from the University of Dijon), and after several highly rewarding internships in Bordeaux and California. Anne-Sophie, one of Jean-François' daughters, now assists him on the estate.

Visit JF Quénard estate today boasts 17 hectares of vineyards stretching out at the foot of the ancient fortress towers. The Chignin vineyard, located 10 km south of Chambéry, is characterized by its well-exposed clay-limestone slopes and its magnificent site of medieval towers. Jean-François Quénard draws his inspiration from traditional methods handed down through successive generations. He pays particular attention to respecting the terroir, cultural practices and winemaking techniques, all of which have been improved with new techniques. Each plot is vinified separately, like a baby being born. From grape to wine.

The grape varieties planted are indigenous to Savoie, i.e. Mondeuse, Persan, Roussette (Altesse), Bergeron (Roussanne) and Jacquère. Gamay and Pinot Noir are also part of our vineyard, but in smaller quantities. The majority of our vines are planted on hillsides, some of them as steep as 45%. As a result, everything has to be done by hand. To respect the grapes, harvesting is done by hand. The JF Quénard estate is now certified organic. The BIO label will be applied to red grape varieties from the 2021 vintage. From 2020, white grape varieties will follow suit.
