La Pie Colette Rouge is the estate’s most indulgent wine. With aromas of plum and fresh cherry, along with a touch of light tannins, it evokes a sense of conviviality. A true treat to be enjoyed slightly chilled!

Wine rated (2023 guide) 88/100

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

When Jean-Mary and Catherine Le Bihan took over the family farm, they set their sights on the hillsides of Duras. It was a wise decision, as they have elevated the estate to one of the best in the Southwest. In this appellation that is struggling to gain recognition, this estate, using standard grape varieties, produces original wines that are enjoyable to drink young or built for aging, such as the superb Perrette and the 2014 Noisetiers, tasted from a magnum. Clémence, one of their daughters, has joined them.

A wine that does justice to its primary grape variety, featuring a ruby-purple color and a nose of blackcurrant and cherry with a distinct freshness. The finish is marked by fine, well-integrated tannins, resulting in a supple and smooth palate.

I'm never disappointed by this bottle—it offers great value for the price and goes down almost as easily as a Beaujolais (though it doesn't quite have the same fruitiness!).
