"Pure red fruit, with lovely vanilla notes. The intense nose is certainly appealing. The palate is equally impressive: balanced, full-bodied, structured by well-present but controlled tannins. It can already be paired with a rib of beef or a Roquefort-type cheese. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022). Everything you would expect from a good "Gascon" wine!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Philippe Fezas has been pampering his vines since 1995, when he took the plunge and added winemaker to his role as consultant for Seguin-Moreau. Committed to producing expressive wines, distributed to wine merchants and fine restaurants, he focuses on his vineyard plots, going against the grain of production in the surrounding area. His two hillsides face the Pyrenees and feature a variety of soils ranging from fine clay (the Côte d'Heux) to more calcareous soils (white soils).

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2022) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

Pure red fruit, with lovely vanilla notes. The intense nose is certainly appealing. The palate is equally impressive: balanced, full-bodied, structured by tannins that are present but well-controlled. It can already be paired with a rib of beef or a Roquefort-type cheese.

About the estate:

Heir to four generations of winegrowers established here since 1893, Philippe Fezas contemplates the small 13th-century church built in the nearby hamlet of Heux from his 50-hectare estate. The rows of vines are swept by the chiroula, a beneficial wind that dries the grapes, which will produce flocs, Armagnacs, and Côtes de Gascogne wines of high quality. A sure bet.
