Domaine Chiroulet

Domaine Chiroulet is a family-owned estate where six generations have worked for 150 years to enhance the wines produced from this exceptional terroir. Located on the highest hillsides of Gascony, at an elevation of 180 meters, Domaine Chiroulet takes its name from the wind, which whistles "Chiroula" in the local dialect. It is currently run by Michel Fezas and his son Philippe.

The Domaine Chiroulet vineyard comprises 40 hectares of vines on a rugged yet generous terroir: a clay-limestone base, with some plots dominated by fine clays, reminiscent of the Saint-Emilion region. This is the ideal terroir for Merlot, which makes up 50 to 60% of Domaine Chiroulet’s red wine. It gives the wines their red fruit body and intense bouquet. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Tannat contribute finesse, freshness, and structure. These grape varieties are blended early, in November, and aged in oak barrels for approximately 12 months.
