Domaine Chiroulet

Domaine Chiroulet is a family-owned estate where six generations have worked for the past 150 years to enhance the quality of wines produced from a truly exceptional terroir. Located on the highest hillsides of Gascony, at an elevation of 180 meters, Domaine Chiroulet owes its name to the wind, which whistles “Chiroula” in the local dialect. Today, it is run by Michel Fezas and his son Philippe.

The Domaine Chiroulet vineyard comprises 40 hectares of vines on a rugged yet generous terroir: a clay-limestone subsoil, with some plots dominated by fine clays, reminiscent of the Saint-Émilion region. This is the ideal terroir for Merlot, which makes up 50 to 60% of Domaine Chiroulet’s red wines. It gives the wines their full-bodied red fruit character and intense bouquet. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Tannat contribute finesse, freshness, and structure. These grape varieties are blended early, in November, and aged in oak barrels for approximately 12 months.
