Wine rated 14/20 (2017 vintage) (Good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Philippe Fezas has been tending his vineyards since 1995, the year he took the plunge and added the role of winemaker to his position as a consultant for Seguin-Moreau. Committed to producing expressive wines—distributed to wine shops and fine restaurants—he takes great care in planning his vineyard layout, in contrast to production practices in the surrounding area. His two slopes face the Pyrenees and feature a variety of soils ranging from fine clay (the Côte d’Heux) to more calcareous soils (terres blanches).

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

As the heir to four generations of winemakers who have been based here since 1893, Philippe Fezas looks out from his 50-hectare estate at the small 13th-century church in the nearby hamlet of Heux. A gentle breeze known as the chiroula blows through the vineyard rows, drying the grapes that will yield exceptional flocs, Armagnacs, and Côtes de Gascogne wines. A sure bet.
