Bettane & Desseauve

“This pure Petit Manseng, harvested in early winter, boasts an exquisite truffle-like aroma. On the palate, it is rich and syrupy, with candied notes that echo the white truffle aroma, all wrapped in a refreshing crispness. The best sweet wine in its category. ” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines). A very distinctive, lively wine with a beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness, and a lovely length, featuring a delicately oaky finish. A wine best reserved for desserts...

Wine rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to expectations for its appellation(s))

About the wine:

This pure Petit Manseng, harvested in early winter, boasts an exquisite truffle aroma. On the palate, it is rich and syrupy, with candied notes that echo the white truffle aromas, all framed by a refreshing crispness. The best sweet wine in its category.

About the estate:

Philippe Fezas has been tending his vineyards since 1995, the year he took the plunge and added the role of winemaker to his position as a consultant for Seguin-Moreau. Committed to producing expressive wines sold to wine shops and fine restaurants, he carefully plans his vineyard layout, taking a different approach from neighboring producers. His two slopes face the Pyrenees and feature a variety of soils ranging from fine clay (the Côte d’Heux) to more calcareous soils (white soils).

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

As the heir to four generations of winemakers who have been based here since 1893, Philippe Fezas looks out from his 50-hectare estate at the small 13th-century church in the nearby hamlet of Heux. A gentle breeze, the chiroula, blows through the rows of vines, drying the grapes that will yield flocs, Armagnacs, and Côtes de Gascogne of exceptional quality. A sure bet.
