“This blend of Gros Manseng and Sauvignon offers a completely different style. Here is a floral white with subtle notes of pomelo, a briny quality, and a very refreshing character. Not technical or varietal in the slightest, with just the right amount of body and structure, it almost leans toward the Loire style! It’s beautifully crafted. ” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2015). A white wine that is soft on the palate, supple, and pleasantly tart, reflecting the pure (floral and mineral) expression of the limestone terroirs...

Wine rated (2015 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
This blend of Gros Manseng and Sauvignon Blanc offers a completely different style. It’s a floral white wine with subtle notes of grapefruit, a briny quality, and a very refreshing character. Not technical or varietal in the slightest, with just the right amount of body and structure, it almost leans toward the Loire style! It’s beautifully crafted.
About the estate:
Philippe Fezas has been tending to his vineyards since 1995, the year he took the plunge and added the role of winemaker to his position as a consultant for Seguin-Moreau. Committed to producing expressive wines sold to wine shops and fine restaurants, he carefully plans his vineyard layout, bucking the trend of surrounding production. His two slopes face the Pyrenees and feature a variety of soils ranging from fine clay (the Côte d’Heux) to more calcareous soils (white earth).

Wine noted (guide 2015) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
From his estate, Philippe Fezas gazes upon the small 13th-century church in the nearby hamlet of Heux. A gentle breeze, the chiroula, blows through the rows of vines, drying the grapes that will yield exceptional flocs.
Well known for its flocs, this estate in the Gers region, run by the Fezas family for five generations, boasts 38.5 hectares of vineyards on a south-facing hillside overlooking the Pyrenees. Named after a plot of white clay, this white wine blends Gros Manseng (50%) and Sauvignon Blanc, with a touch of Ugni Blanc. The dominant grape variety imparts lovely white-fleshed fruit aromas, with a hint of herbaceous notes, and a fresh, aromatic palate with a slight effervescence.
About the estate:
As the heir to four generations of winemakers who have been based here since 1893, Philippe Fezas looks out from his 50-hectare estate at the small 13th-century church in the nearby hamlet of Heux. A gentle breeze, the chiroula, blows through the rows of vines, drying the grapes that will yield exceptional flocs, Armagnacs, and Côtes de Gascogne. A sure bet.

It has the familiar charm of a Côte de Gascogne, but there’s a bit of a kick on the palate.

Very fruity on the palate, with a slightly mineral finish and decent length.

Citrus notes against a more complex backdrop than that of the Bordeaux estate Les Haurets.
