"Close your eyes and enjoy!"
“This vintage marks the final year of the transition to organic farming; it was fermented and aged in 300-liter oak barrels, where Sauvignon reigns supreme. The oak is barely noticeable in this wine, which captivates with its pronounced minerality and hints of flint. This character harmonizes beautifully with a pleasant liveliness, making it a perfect match for seafood, a variety of cheeses, or a delicious veal blanquette.” (Le Guide Hachette 2023)

About the estate:
Since 1981, Sylvie and Jean-François Deffarge have spared no effort in flying the Montravel flag high at this estate, which they inherited from Jean-François’s father. Today, the estate spans 52 hectares located on the hillsides and the Vélines plateau. While the estate has not yet made the switch to organic farming, it strives to do the best it can. The next generation is already in the starting blocks: Quentin and Benjamin are now actively involved in the estate’s operations and are taking the reins. Their extensive and well-structured lineup allows them to offer wines suited to every occasion. The new winery will enable them to take their vision even further, notably by producing a few experimental cuvées in addition to their regular offerings.

About the estate:
A very old family estate (1749) located on the hills above Montravel, this vast property is now one of the leading names in the Bergerac region, thanks to the work carried out since 1990 (when the estate left the cooperative) by Jean-François Deffarge, a “self-taught oenologist,” who is now passing the reins to his sons Benjamin and Quentin. The vineyard (50 ha) spans two distinct terroirs: clay-limestone slopes and a high plateau of boulbène soil. Currently in the process of converting to organic farming.
