Albert Mann - Alsace Pinot Gris Cuvée Albert 2022

“‘A beautifully fresh Pinot Gris, with excellent chalky minerality and very delicate notes of melon, hibiscus, and honeysuckle.’ (James Suckling)”
"Made from old vines located in Wettolsheim Rosenberg and Kientzheim Altenbourg, the 2022 Pinot Gris Cuvée Albert opens with reduced notes of flint, featuring a fresh and intense fruit-driven nose with mineral undertones. Round and generous on the palate, rather creamy, this is a fairly rich and intense Pinot Gris—supple yet very long and finely tannic—that well represents the richness of this grape variety, yet presents itself as a dry, textured, and well-balanced wine that calls for richer dishes. Sealed with a screw cap, this is by no means an aperitif wine or an easy-drinking wine. It has a salty, intense, and elegant finish.” (Wine Advocate 2025) (Screw cap)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2024 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Jacky Barthelmé puts it bluntly: “We’re very happy with 2021 because it was a winemaker’s vintage. Those who were out in the vineyards got the grapes. It didn’t happen on its own. ” And it’s clear that tasting the lineup proves him right: Pinot Noirs as successful as ever, Rieslings of great beauty, and even Pinot Gris wines that display a drier balance than in the past—which can only delight us.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
The estate, born from the union of the Mann and Barthelmé families—two distinguished lines of winemakers dating back to the 17th century—produces wines of the very highest caliber, emblematic of the finest that Alsace has to offer. Maurice, an inspired biodynamic winemaker and occasional dowser, has brought purity to the wines through meticulous work in the vineyard. Jacky and his son Antoine possess a highly refined sense of winemaking for both whites and reds. The balance of the wines, their approachability, and their depth make them models for all wine lovers. Their four reds rank among the very best of Alsace and are among the finest in France. This success has now made them rare wines.
