Jacky Barthelmé puts it bluntly: “We’re very happy with 2021 because it was a winemaker’s vintage. Those who were out in the vineyards got the grapes. It didn’t happen on its own. ” And it’s clear from tasting the lineup that he’s right: Pinot Noirs that are as successful as ever, Rieslings of great beauty, and even Pinot Gris wines that show a drier balance than in the past—which can only delight us.

The Pinot Gris from the same terroir is quite dry yet full-bodied, superbly smooth with a long finish, and very delicate in its spicy notes.

Remarkably fresh, delicate, and dry for a grand cru made from this grape variety. A perfect balance between a creamy richness that’s well-restrained and a lively, silky acidity. Not overly concentrated, but beautifully balanced. I love the aromas of mirabelle plum, honeysuckle, and melon. A long, clean, and graceful finish. Made from grapes grown using biodynamic farming methods. Ready to drink now or worth cellaring.
