“A distillation of pear, lychee, lily, and gardenia in the 2008 Gewurztraminer Sonnenglanz Vendange Tardive, with a floral mid-palate resting on notes of pear nectar and nougat. An admirable sensation of freshness, lightness, and an enticing salinity combine to give this 2008 an astonishing elegance, despite the sheer extravagance of fruit and flowers and over 120 grams of residual sugar. About the estate:

The perfectionist Jean-Christophe Bott is one of Alsace’s leading winemakers. He is dedicated to meticulous work both in the cellar and in the vineyard, which is cultivated using biodynamic methods. While it consisted of just 4 hectares when it was founded in 1953, the estate now owns 15 hectares spread across seven communes. The wines here are full-bodied and smooth, their richness well-balanced without the slightest heaviness, particularly in the Pinot Gris, which is definitely worth rediscovering. Each cuvée possesses both power and a long finish, two qualities that lead to a sense of fullness. To top it all off, the estate offers older vintages for sale and has recently begun renting out vacation homes.
