“A sparkling wine (Yves Beck)”

“The 2021 Wiebelsberg Grand Cru is deep, pure, and elegant, with a fascinating, intense, and layered nose, full of minerality and herbaceous or floral aromas such as woodruff, yet characterized by its ripe and concentrated yellow fruit. The full-bodied and rich palate reveals an elegant, dense, and generous Riesling—very intense, well-concentrated, and even powerful—with a tight structure and a long, complex finish, finely tannic and full of minerals and salts. It is still very young.” (Wine Advocate 2025)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the wine:

Aged for 22 months, Wiebelsberg is a wine with a delicately full-bodied profile, unfolding with subtle bitter notes and a spicy finish, though it still needs time to fully develop.

About the estate:

Antoine, the son of Marc Kreydenweiss, has been at the helm of this estate in Andlau since 2007; it is among the pioneers of biodynamics in Alsace. The diversity of the estate’s terroirs and their subtle interpretation have always been a strong point here, further enhanced by the changes Antoine has implemented (slower pressing and extended aging on the lees). The risks taken in vinifying many cuvées without sulfur (or with minimal levels) have paid off and result in no flaws whatsoever. A small range of wines made from purchased organic grapes has been launched under the label Lune à Boire. The Pinot Noir and macerated wines (not rated) are of the highest caliber. The standards have returned to the highest level with wines of rare vitality, and continue to deepen, with ambitious four-year aging for the 2017 Grand Cru Rieslings. These exciting wines, of rare vitality, have earned the estate its third star this year.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

Grown on the steep slopes of Wiebelsberg at the entrance to Andlau, on soils of sand and pure sandstone. Aged for two years (one year in large oak casks and one year in stainless steel tanks). The attack, supple at first, heralds a precise wine—not austere, but well-structured! A beautiful sense of harmony where power and tension create the connection with a denser, more supple touch. A sparkling wine that needs to breathe if enjoyed in its youth. 2027–2047
